Deformation mechanism and fracture of electron beam melted Ti–6Al–4V

This study presents an exploratory characterization on the effect of build orientation on deformation behavior of Ti–6Al–4V rods produced through electron beam melting (EBM). Microstructural differences in horizontally and vertically printed rods were characterized using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). A typical microstructure of the alloy consists of primary-α and vanadium-enriched β phases. Compared to the horizontal samples, vertically printed ones exhibited finer lamellar microstructure with thin prior β-boundary, reduced thickness of α-laths, grain-boundary α (αGB), and smaller α-colony size. Most of the basal poles were aligned either parallel or perpendicular to the build direction in the horizontal sample, whereas they were tilted away from the build direction in the vertical sample. Uniaxial tensile tests were conducted on both horizontal and vertical samples, where the loading axis was perpendicular and parallel to the build direction, respectively. Vertical specimens exhibited higher yield strength (∼30 MPa), ultimate tensile strength (∼50 MPa), and tensile elongation (∼1.8%) than those of the horizontal ones. In this study, we used the homologous model technique and principal component analysis to determine gender difference from morphology of the mandible. In conclusion, an epidermal component in primary cutaneous clear cell sarcomas, or cutaneous metastasis of the tumor, is exceptional and represents a potential diagnostic pitfall. Careful attention to the salient morphologic features in the dermal component of the tumor, as well as confirmation of EWSR1 gene rearrangement by fluorescence in situ hybridization or reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction, is necessary for correct recognition of the tumor and to avoid erroneous diagnosis of a benign or malignant melanocytic proliferation.

We describe an extremely rare case of SFT in the left preauricular region. The tumor lesion had gradually grown without pain or facial paralysis. Magnetic resonance imaging scan showed a circumscribed mass with high signal intensity on Gd-DTPA-enhanced T1-weighted images measuring approximately 3.0 cm in diameter. Abstract The goal of this study was to report deep squat hip kinetics in young, athletic adults using a personalized numerical model solution based on inverse dynamics.
