CONCLUSIONS: the prevalence of CeD in our patients with IBD was higher than that reported in the literature for other series of patients with IBD. A combination of anti-tTG testing and CeD genetics may screen patients for CeD in this population of patients with IBD. PMID: 31718200 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

CONCLUSIONS: The requirement for proctectomy after hemorrhoidectomy/skin tag excision appears to be secondary to the natural disease course of perianal Crohn’s disease rather than perianal intervention. Selective hemorrhoidectomy and skin tag excision in patients with well-controlled luminal disease should be considered. See Video Abstract at http://links.lww.com/DCR/B55. Authors: Khorshidi M, Djafarian K, Aghayei E, Shab-Bidar S Abstract Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic inflammatory disorder which affects the gastrointestinal tract. Many factors, such as genetics, stress, and dietary patterns have been related to the risk of this disease. Adherence to a prudent/healthy dietary pattern, due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, help to reduce the risk of many chronic diseases such as IBD. The results from previous studies regarding the association between dietary patterns and risk of IBD, including Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), are in...

AbstractObjectiveTo characterize the ecological effects of biologic therapies on the gut bacterial and fungal microbiome of psoriatic arthritis (PsA)/spondyloarthritis (SpA) patients.MethodsFecal samples from PsA/SpA patients pre ‐ and post‐treatment with tumor necrosis factor inhibitors (TNFi; n=15) or an anti‐interleukin (IL)‐17A monoclonal antibody inhibitor (IL‐17i; n=14) underwent sequencing (16S, ITS and shotgun metagenomics) and computational microbiome analysis. Fecal levels of fatty acid metabolites and cy tokines/proteins implicated in PsA/SpA pathogenesis or intestinal inflammation were correlated with...

AbstractObjectiveIL23R plays an important role in the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The IL23R rs11209026 and rs10889677 polymorphisms have been shown to be associated with the development of Crohn ’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). But the results were inconsistent and inconclusive. So, we aim to investigate the genetic association between rs11209026 and rs10889677 polymorphisms and UC and CD risk by a meta-analysis.MethodsLiterature search was conducted through PubMed, CNKI, and web of science databases. Pooled OR and 95% CI was used to assess the association between the allelic, domina...
