Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation Mentored Clinician-Scientist Grant

The objective of this grant is to promote the development of new clinician scientists who have demonstrated success as both a clinician and a researcher.  This will allow the investigators to spend dedicated time in research for a period of up to five years to develop a long and productive career in academic surgery.  Eligible applicants are orthopaedic surgeons who have received recent K08 or K23 funding from the NIH, or equivalent mentored research funding.  This grant will provide an annual stipend of $20,000 to supplement the investigator’s salary, and to compensate for the projected loss of income resulting from the recipient’s reduced clinical productivity.  Relevant subspecialty organizations will be encouraged to provide stipend as well. The grant is renewable annually for up to five years, equal to the term of the research funding, subject to annual review of the scientific progress of the research project and available OREF funds.
