(E. ulmoides) is a valuable and nourishing medicinal herb in China that has been used in the treatment of hypertension. Given the fact that the great part of traditional Chinese medicine is mainly used to treat disease, investigating the pharmacokinetic of traditional Chinese medicine in the pathological state is more useful than that of in normal state. However, the absorption kinetics difference of active ingredients of E. ulmoides extract in the pathological and physiological conditions has no been reported. Therefore, in this study, the rats intestinal in situ circulatory perfusion model was used to firstly investigate the absorption kinetics difference of seven active ingredients of E. ulmoides extract in normal and spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR), namely, genipinic acid (GA), protocatechuic acid (PCA), neochlorogenic acid (NCA), chlorogenic acid (CA), cryptochlorogenic acid (CCA), (+)-pinoresinol di-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (PDG), and (+)-pinoresinol 4'-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (PG). Our results indicate that the pathological state of spontaneous hypertension may change the absorption of activ...
