Over Half of U.S. Business R & D Performed in 10 Metropolitan Areas in 2015

New estimates show that 10 metropolitan statistical areas accounted for 55 % of the $ 356 billion of R&D performed by businesses in the United States in 2015. This is the first year that such estimates represent the entire survey population. Data are from the Business R&D and Innovation Survey ( BRDIS ) , developed and cosponsored by the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics within the National Science Foundation and by the U.S. Census Bureau.
