Effects of acute experimental Trypanosoma brucei brucei infections on serum super oxide dismutase activities in relations to development of parasitaemia, anaemia and leucopenia in Wistar rats

In conclusion, infection of rats withT. b. brucei caused a decrease in the serum SOD activities proportional to the level of parasitaemia and duration of the infection, and this is suggested to be responsible for sequential development of anaemia and leucopenia.
