Advocacy and AccessHow the European Society of Cardiology is Building Healthy Relationships with Brussels

New drugs and devices are keenly anticipated by doctors and patients in search of new remedies. But the speed of biomedical progress is highly dependent on rules and procedures to make innovations available to those in need. Ensuring that appropriate regulation and legislation are in place so that European patients and healthcare professionals have timely access to innovative, safe and effective health technologies has been an ESC priority for some time. The ESC Regulatory Affairs Committee is ESC ’s main contact with EU regulators in Brussels. The group represents another strand of ESC advocacy and is part of a long-standing commitment by the ESC to bridge the gap between science and decision-making.
