Left ventricular unloading by percutaneous mechanical circulatory support in takotsubo syndrome with severe cardiogenic shock

A 76-year-old woman was admitted to our intensive care unit in severe cardiogenic shock due to takotsubo syndrome related to both emotional and physical triggers (cancer diagnosis of a beloved one and conus cauda syndrome, respectively). Eight months before she had undergone reconstruction of the mitral and tricuspid valve due to severe regurgitations after invasive exclusion of significant coronary artery disease.
