Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Fellowship in Medical Journalism This fellowship program for new faculty members will provide a 1-year experience in medical journalism with the editorial and publishing teams at Family Medicine. Fellows, after completion of this program, will significantly improve their skills in writing, reviewing, and editing scientific papers; these basic scholarly skills will make them better teachers and leaders. The fellowship year will mirror the academic year and will begin in June of each year and complete the following July. Fellow Responsibilities: ◦ Participate in weekly conference calls with the journal’s editorial team ◦ Participate in the editorial review process under the supervision of the editor ◦ Assist the editor in selecting content for each of the 10 journal issues created during the fellowship year ◦ Work in the role of assistant editor for at least 20 papers with support and mentoring from the editorial team ◦ Attend the journal’s editorial board meeting (held at the 2016 STFM Annual Spring Conference) toward the end of their fellowship year at their own expense ◦ Visit the journal’s editorial office at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) at least once during the fellowship year Eligibility Criteria ◦ Applicant must be a full-time faculty member in a department of family medicine or family medicine residency ◦ Applicant must be an active STFM ...
