127. Viable allograft intervertebral disc augmentation: preliminary results and safety data in the first 24 patients

Lumbar degenerative disc disease contributes to chronic back pain. Mechanisms of intradiscal degeneration have been linked to genetic, metabolic and mechanical imbalance. Symptomatic relief is influenced by meaningful repair of the annulus and by nucleus supplementation.

ConclusionNo patient was newly prescribed Versatis ® during their admission. The MMP directive for the prescribing of Versatis® influenced prescribing practice across our hospital sites. Community practice for prescribing off-label is still evident for chronic pain, reflecting the difficulty of pain control in older adults. The cost of individual plasters increased by 0.88€ since 2017.

Abstract Chronic nonspecific low back pain (CNLBP) is defined as pain or discomfort originating from the waist, which lasts for at least 12 weeks, but no radiculopathy or specific spinal diseases. CNLBP is a complicated medical problem and places a huge burden on healthcare systems. Clinical manifestation of CNLBP includes discogenic LBP, zygapophyseal joint pain, sacroiliac joint pain, and lumbar muscle strain. Further evaluation should be completed to confirm the diagnosis including auxiliary examination, functional assessment, and clinical assessment. The principle of the management is to relieve pain, restore ...

ConclusionsThe present study showed that NSCLBP patients did not present higher fatigability or higher fatigability asymmetry in lumbar muscles than asymptomatic participants. The heterogeneity of the NSCLBP population, due to the absence of any specific etiology, may explain these findings.Graphic abstractThese slides can be retrieved under Electronic Supplementary Material.

Conclusion: The statistical analysis characterized chronic low back pain patients and identified factors contributing to a treatment response. Thus, this retrospective statistical algorithm represents an elegant method, which may contribute to future strategies toward a more individualized and improved mechanism based pain therapy.

ConclusionConsistent with research in middle and older adults, physical health conditions are associated with increased risk for the onset of suicidal thoughts and behaviors in adolescents. Mental health screening for adolescents with chronic medical conditions may help parents and physicians identify suicidality early.
