Systemic Erythrocyte-Bound Apolipoprotein B In Diabetes

Background and Aims: Diabetes has been associated with an increased cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. Serum apolipoprotein (apo) B is an independent risk factor for CVD, both in diabetic and non-diabetic subjects. In the latter, high circulating erythrocyte-bound apoB (ery-apoB) has been associated with protection against atherosclerosis. We aimed to evaluate ery-apoB in patients with type 1 (T1DM) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
