Alpha 1-antitrypsin for treating ventilator-associated lung injury in acute respiratory distress syndrome rats.

Conclusions: AAT ameliorated VILI in ARDS rats. The protection conferred by AAT may be associated with the anti-inflammatory, antioxidative stress response and anti-apoptotic effects of AAT.
