Vaccination programs substantially reduce HPV infections and precancerous cervical lesions

(Universit é Laval) Human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccination programs have substantially reduced the number of infections and precancerous cervical lesions caused by the virus, according to a study published today in The Lancet by researchers from Universit é Laval and the CHU de Qu é bec-Universit é Laval Research Centre. Results are so promising that it has now become possible to envision eliminating cervical cancer as a public health problem in the coming decades.
