Stars of Life Award Recipients to Be Honored in D.C.

The American Ambulance Association’s Stars of Life program celebrates the contributions of ambulance professionals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in service to their communities or the EMS profession. This week, the association will be honoring the 2019 Stars of Life in Washington, D.C. You can find a list of this year's award recipients and their accomplishments HERE. Some of this year's highlights include:  Peter Beemer | AMR | Kaui, Hawaii: After Peter's family was evacuated from a flood, he stayed behind and spent nearly two weeks on site helping his community recover. Peter provided wound care, disease and injury prevention education, helped set up a walk-in clinic, did home visits, and coordinated medication distribution. Kristen Copeland | AMR | Santa Rosa, CA:  Last year, this Paramedic delivered three babies and successfully resuscitated four cardiac arrest patients Mike Copeland | AMR | Moorepark, CA:  One of the first to respond to the Thousand Oaks country bar shooting, Michael provided care to several gunshot victims, including a personal friend and fellow responder. Days later, he helped cover shifts during a devastating wildfire. Aaron Fajardo | Rural Metro Fire | Waddle, AZ: While responding to a car crash, one of the motorists began firing a gun. This brave EMT-firefighter shielded his patient from bullets with his own body. Timothy Hoar | AMR | Buffalo, NY: This combat veteran disarmed a violent patient who shot at nursing ...
