Editorial: What Do Cannabis-Related Differences in Corticostriatal Circuitry Subserving Cognitive Control Mean?
Increasingly permissive attitudes and laws surrounding cannabis have been accompanied by more prevalent use and increased perceptions of its safety.1 However, in stark contrast to this sea-change, remarkably little is known about the potential consequences and etiology of cannabis involvement. In particular, it is unclear what biological mechanisms may undergird associations with negative outcomes (eg, reduced cognition, increased psychosis, depression)2 and whether these substrates arise from cannabis use and/or represent predispositional risk factors.
Authors: L Laporta M, O Kinney M, R Schroeder D, Sprung J, Weingarten TN Abstract To investigate if sex-specific physiologic characteristics could impact postoperative respiratory depression risks in women, we studied incidence and risk factors associated with postoperative respiratory depression in a gynecologic surgical cohort. Only hysterectomies performed under general anesthesia from 2012 to 2017 were included to minimize interprocedural variability. Respiratory depression was defined as episodes of apnea, hypopnea, hypoxemia, pain-sedation mismatch, unplanned positive airway pressure device application, or na...
DISCUSSION: There is a need to identify faster severe depressive disorders in adolescents with anorexia nervosa in order to provide, along with refeeding, a more intensive treatment of mood symptoms. A multidisciplinary and coordinated approach must be initiated at the beginning of the trouble. There is a need for more systematic studies on the therapeutic approaches of mood disorder comorbidities in adolescents suffering from anorexia nervosa. CONCLUSION: In this context, preventive measures and specialized care are necessary. Thus, it is important to propose a close follow-up to the individuals who have been infected by the virus, in order to set up the earliest care possible. Likewise, in pregnant women, screening of mood disorders during the pregnancy or the postpartum period must be facilitated. The follow-up of the babies born during the pandemic must be strengthened to screen and care for possible neurodevelopmental disorders. PMID: 32928535 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

CONCLUSION: Therapeutic management must explore and respect the adolescent's representations of masculinity and then mobilize them to bring the young person to reconsider his perception of care and suicidal behavior. PMID: 32928530 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
CONCLUSION: A systematic review about psychodynamic therapies, published in 2015 in Lancet Psychiatry, included 64 randomized controlled trials of which 37 were published after 2003. Therefore, most quality studies assessing psychodynamic therapies have been published since 2003 and have been reviewed in recent meta-analysis articles. All together, this recent literature leads to the conclusion that psychodynamic therapies are as effective as active treatments, including cognitive psychotherapies, to help patients suffering from common mental disorders (unipolar depression, anxiety disorders, eating dis...
CONCLUSION: FER is impaired in patients with Alcohol Use Disorder compared to controls. This alteration improves after alcohol detoxification. We suggest the RMET could be used to follow the improvement of FER during the first month of abstinence, especially as RMET performance has been associated with maintenance of alcohol withdrawal. CONCLUSION: This suggests that SSRI antidepressants decrease vulnerability to negative images, while having an effect on attention in respect to positive images. PMID: 32933239 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
CONCLUSION: It is expected that "Suicide CARE" version 2.0 be positioned as the basic framework for many developing gatekeeper training programs for suicide prevention in Korea in the near future. PMID: 32933238 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
CONCLUSION: These findings support that major depressive disorder may be due to disturbances in multiple neuronal circuits, especially those associated with the corpus callosum. PMID: 32933236 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
