Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) is an immunologically-mediated lung disorder caused by inhalation of antigens stimulating primarily a lymphocytic inflammation in the peripheral airways and interstitial tissue. Causative antigens have been historically recognized in occupational settings1. However, as more safety measures have been initiated to reduce exposure in the workplace, the home has become the primary causative environment.1-7 The home is a complex environment influenced by geographic location, architectural design, contents and lifestyles of the inhabitants.
