Invasive-noninvasive sequential ventilation for the treatment of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

CONCLUSION: The results demonstrated that application of noninvasive sequential ventilation after invasive ventilation at the pulmonary infection control window has significant influence on VAP incidence, mortality, length of stay in ICU and so on, but further well-designed, adequately powered RCTs are required to validate the conclusion.
