CONCLUSION: The results demonstrated that application of noninvasive sequential ventilation after invasive ventilation at the pulmonary infection control window has significant influence on VAP incidence, mortality, length of stay in ICU and so on, but further well-designed, adequately powered RCTs are required to validate the conclusion. (National Jewish Health) More than 100 of the nation's leading pulmonologists have proposed new criteria for diagnosing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The new criteria could better capture the full spectrum of people suffering from COPD, lead to better care for patients, and stimulate research to slow or stop progression of the disease or even prevent it. The proposal expands diagnostic criteria from a single measure of lung function to include environmental exposure, symptoms, and abnormal CT scans.

ConclusionsPotentially inappropriate ICS use is common among patients with and without airflow obstruction who are diagnosed with COPD. We identified patient comorbidities and patterns of healthcare utilization that increase the likelihood of ICS use that could be targeted for system-level de-implementation interventions.
