OHSU students make surprise discovery when dissecting body

When students in a gross anatomy class at Oregon Health& Science University dissected the chest cavity of a body last spring, they noticed something odd. The large vein that conveys oxygenated blood back from the abdominal cavity to the extremities was in an unusual place. When they probed further, they found that the liver and stomach were transposed, but her heart remained on the left side of her chest.
