Osteonecrosis of the Femoral Head.

Osteonecrosis of the Femoral Head. Orthop Clin North Am. 2019 Apr;50(2):139-149 Authors: Cohen-Rosenblum A, Cui Q Abstract Osteonecrosis of the femoral head most commonly arises from trauma or corticosteroid and alcohol use but is also associated with blood dyscrasias and metabolic and coagulation disorders. Initial evaluation includes a history and physical examination and plain radiographs. Early-stage osteonecrosis is best evaluated by MRI. The Ficat and Arlet classification system is the most widely used. Nonoperative treatment has been studied using bisphosphonates, anticoagulants, vasodilators, statins, and biophysical modalities. Operative treatment includes core decompression with or without adjuvants, such as autologous bone marrow, whereas total hip arthroplasty is reserved for advanced-stage osteonecrosis in older patients or those who have failed joint-preserving treatment. This study explored the roles of MS and AK in improving alcoholic liver injury. MS and AK were simultaneously fed to evaluate their effects and mechanisms in C57BL/6J mice fed the Lieber–DeCarli liquid alcohol diet for 6 weeks. The results indicated that MS and AK significantly reduced the serum aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase activity, as well as the total liver cholesterol and triglyceride levels. The histopathological results indicated that MS and AK prevented lipid accumulation in the liver. MS and AK effectively enhanced the activity of antioxidant enzymes and reduced the degree of lipid ...

Biomed Pharmacother. 2021 Nov;143:112181. doi: 10.1016/j.biopha.2021.112181. Epub 2021 Oct 4.ABSTRACTJiangzhi Granule is a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine for treating non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. However, its key ingredients and underlying mechanisms for attenuating nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) remain unclear. To address this issue, UPLC-TOF-MS based chemical profiling, network pharmacology and animal experimental validation were employed. First, a total of 56 main ingredients of Jiangzhi Granule and 38 ingredients in the blood and liver (after oral administration) were identified. Then, 170 potent...

This study aimed to determine the risk factors for newly developed NAFLD among breast cancer patients after hormonal treatment and whether it influences survival outcomes.METHODS: This retrospective study investigated hormone receptor (HR)-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative (HR+/HER2-), nonmetastatic breast cancer patients diagnosed between January 2010 and December 2018. All patients received adjuvant hormonal treatment for at least 6 months. Clinical data on metabolic profile indicators such as body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, serum cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipopr...

WND presentations vary from liver steatosis to inflammation, fibrosis, and liver failure. Diets influence the liver phenotype in WND, but findings are inconsistent. To better understand the impact of excess calories on liver phenotype in WND, we compared C57BL/6J Atp7b-/- and C57BL/6J mice fed for 12 weeks with Western diet or normal chow. Serum and liver metabolites, body fat content, liver histolo...
