Reply letter to the editor metabolic surgery ameliorates cardiovascular risk in obese diabetic patients: influence of different surgical procedures
We thank the authors for their interest and comments on our article “Metabolic surgery ameliorates cardiovascular risk in obese diabetic patients: influence of different surgical procedures” [1]. Owing to the increasing obesity epidemic, type 2 diabetes (T2D) is becoming a major health issue, in both developed and developing countries. It is estimated that>425 million individuals were affected by T2D worldwide in 2017, with a global prevalence of 1 in 11 (9.9%) adults [2]. Therefore, T2D becomes a more important health issue than obesity in some areas of the world.
