Comparison study of Bone Mineral Density (BMD) in native Chinese and American Caucasian populations

This study analyzes and compares the trends in Bone Mineral Density (BMD) in Chinese and Caucasian populations collected using the Norland DXA scanner. Earlier studies have indicated that on average, the BMD of the general Chinese population is lower than that of the American Caucasian population. This has been linked to the widespread idea that BMD is largely genetically determined. However, recent BMD studies using Norland DXA units may suggest that bone in the Chinese and Caucasian populations may not differ.
