A novel imaging technique for bronchopulmonary dysplasia: functional respiratory imaging.

Conclusions: FRI seems to be a more sensitive way to detect air trapping than regular CT analysis in BPD patients. To our knowledge, this is the first study that demonstrates higher resistance specifically in the peripheral airways of BPD patients. FRI is a promising new imaging technique for BPD, combining a structural and functional assessment; thus opening up the potential to better understand the pathophysiology of BPD.
