Significant Dialysis Development
(Houston Methodist) Eric Peden, M.D., chief of vascular surgery at Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart& Vascular Center, was the first surgeon in the US to perform minimally-invasive surgery to create access for dialysis patients with severe kidney disease. The WavelinQ endoAVF System by Becton Dickson allows vascular surgeons to create a connection between an artery and vein using a technique involving magnets. The system was recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
