CONCLUSIONS: At this time, it is impossible to draw reliable conclusions from available data to support the use of acupuncture for treatment of patients with glaucoma. Because of ethical considerations, RCTs comparing acupuncture alone with standard glaucoma treatment or placebo are unlikely to be justified in countries where the standard of care has already been established. Neurons in the superior cervical ganglia (SCG) are classified as rostral and caudal according to their regional locations. Although diverse phenotypes have been reported for these two subpopulations, differences in neuroplasticity, like long-term potentiation (LTP), have not been characterized. Here, we explored possible regional differences of LTP expression in rostral and caudal neurons of the SCG in control rats, Wistar and Wistar Kyoto (WKy), and in the spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) as a model of hypertension.

Conclusions: Sympathetic nerves contribute to the homing and survival of hypertension-specific TEM cells in the bone marrow after they are formed in hypertension. Inhibition of sympathetic nerve activity and β2AR blockade reduces these cells and prevents the blood pressure elevation and renal inflammation upon re-exposure to hypertension stimuli. In our current study, we conducted an observational study to investigate the association of the retinal sublayer thickness on OCT with focal markers of brain tissue on MRI in participants with WMH using the Fazekas scale. Retinal degeneration in the RNFL and GCIP was independently associated with focal lesions in the white matter of the brain and deteriorates with the severity of the lesions.
