Non-traditional donor lungs appear safe for transplant

(Elsevier) Patients receiving lungs from donors whose cause of death was asphyxiation or drowning have similar outcomes and long-term survival as patients receiving lungs from traditional donors, according to a study in the October 2014 issue of the Annals of Thoracic Surgery.
