Assisted Reproductive Technology and Severe Postpartum Haemorrhage: A Case-control Study

(BJOG. 2017;124:1198–1205) Assisted reproductive technology (ART) is used in many countries as infertility occurs in ∼9% of the world population. In some European countries it has been reported that at least 3% of children were conceived via ART. Severe postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is a leading cause of maternal morbidity and the association between PPH and pregnancies achieved by ART is unclear. The aim of this case-control study was to determine whether an association exists between ART and severe PPH as well as to determine whether any association was affected by other risk factors for severe PPH.
