Efficacy, Safety, and Quality of Treatment Satisfaction of Premixed Human and Analogue Insulin Regimens in a Large Cohort of Type 2 Diabetic Patients: PROGENS BENEFIT Observational Study.

Efficacy, Safety, and Quality of Treatment Satisfaction of Premixed Human and Analogue Insulin Regimens in a Large Cohort of Type 2 Diabetic Patients: PROGENS BENEFIT Observational Study. Int J Endocrinol. 2018;2018:6536178 Authors: Nabrdalik K, Kwiendacz H, Sawczyn T, Tomasik A, Kukla M, Masierek M, Gumprecht J Abstract Diabetes is a lifelong course disease, so insulin treatment has to be effective and safe, and patients should be satisfied with it. We aimed to compare efficacy, safety, and quality of treatment satisfaction of human and premixed analogue insulin among 3264 patients (53.58% women) with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in a real-life environment. 2493 patients (62.77%) had been assigned to group I where before the inclusion into the study the treatment regimen has been changed from analogue to human premixed insulin and 771 patients (37.23%) to group II where the treatment with insulin analogue remained unchanged. At the end of the study, there was a reduction of HbA1c observed in both of the groups; however, Δ HbA1c was significantly higher in group 1 (-0.599 versus -0.406; P

DiscussionDespite a large body of evidence on the efficacy of aerobic training in the prevention and treatment of T2DM, there is no unequivocal exercise prescription for the same. Oxygen kinetics and oxidative stress are highly sensitive to the magnitude of physical activity. It would therefore, be interesting to study their interaction with chronic exposure to various doses of exercises and explore the optimal volume and intensity to bring about improvements in these parameters.Trial registrationClinical Trials Registry – India,CTRI2017/08/009459. AbstractBackgroundCardiac PET quantifies stress myocardial blood flow (MBF) and perfusion reserve (MPR), while ECG-gated datasets can measure components of ventricular function simultaneously. Stress MBF seems to outperform MPR in the detection of significant CAD. However, it is uncertain which perfusion measurement is more related to ventricular function. We hypothesized that stress MBF correlates with ventricular function better than MPR in patients studied for suspected myocardial ischemia.MethodsWe studied 248 patients referred to a rest and adenosine-stress Nitrogen-13 ammonia PET. We performed a multivariate analysis...

AbstractInsulin degludec/aspart (IDegAsp) is the first soluble insulin co-formulation, combining a long-acting insulin degludec (IDeg) and rapid-acting insulin aspart (IAsp). In type 2 diabetes patients with oral antidiabetes agent (OAD) inadequacy, insulin initiation with IDegAsp once daily provides superior long-term glycemic control compared to insulin glargine, with similar fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and insulin doses, and numerically lower rates of overall and nocturnal hypoglycemia. Furthermore, in patients with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes previously treated with insulins, IDegAsp twice daily effectively improves ...

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is associated with subtle cognitive changes, but also with more severe stages of cognitive dysfunction, including mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia. For these severe stages, it is uncertain which domains are primarily affected and if all patients with impairment are captured by formal criteria for MCI or dementia.
