Efficacy, Safety, and Quality of Treatment Satisfaction of Premixed Human and Analogue Insulin Regimens in a Large Cohort of Type 2 Diabetic Patients: PROGENS BENEFIT Observational Study.

Efficacy, Safety, and Quality of Treatment Satisfaction of Premixed Human and Analogue Insulin Regimens in a Large Cohort of Type 2 Diabetic Patients: PROGENS BENEFIT Observational Study. Int J Endocrinol. 2018;2018:6536178 Authors: Nabrdalik K, Kwiendacz H, Sawczyn T, Tomasik A, Kukla M, Masierek M, Gumprecht J Abstract Diabetes is a lifelong course disease, so insulin treatment has to be effective and safe, and patients should be satisfied with it. We aimed to compare efficacy, safety, and quality of treatment satisfaction of human and premixed analogue insulin among 3264 patients (53.58% women) with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in a real-life environment. 2493 patients (62.77%) had been assigned to group I where before the inclusion into the study the treatment regimen has been changed from analogue to human premixed insulin and 771 patients (37.23%) to group II where the treatment with insulin analogue remained unchanged. At the end of the study, there was a reduction of HbA1c observed in both of the groups; however, Δ HbA1c was significantly higher in group 1 (-0.599 versus -0.406; P

ConclusionsHuman IGF-1 gene may be a candidate gene for GDM and T2DM risk, as our study suggests a significant association between the IGF-I rs35767 and rs5742612 polymorphisms and the risk of T2DM and GDM in pregnant women, whereas there was no association for rs2288377.

Authors: Zhou X, Chen C, Yin D, Zhao F, Bao Z, Zhao Y, Wang X, Li W, Wang T, Jin Y, Lv D, Lu Q, Yin X Abstract Background Previous studies have suggested that variations in the ABCC8 gene may be closely associated with T2DM susceptibility and repaglinide response. However, these results have not been entirely consistent, and there are no related studies in a Chinese population, suggesting the need for further exploration. Objective The current study investigated the associations of the ABCC8 rs1801261 polymorphism with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) susceptibility and repaglinide therapeutic efficacy in Chinese H...

ConclusionDuring the 3-year follow-up period, mortality and clinical complications in STBAD patients after TEVAR were significantly reduced in the T2DM group. For STBAD patients who undergo TEVAR, properly relaxing of blood glucose control requirements may be beneficial for their prognosis.

AbstractPurpose of ReviewAt the 2019 American College of Cardiology annual scientific sessions, major randomized clinical trials in cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention were presented.Recent FindingsThe CLEAR Wisdom trial examined the safety and efficacy of adding bempedoic acid to maximally tolerated statin for reducing low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Post hoc analyses from the REDUCE-IT trial evaluated the efficacy of icosapent ethyl for lowering risk of total (first time and recurrent) CVD events. A sub-analysis of ODYSSEY OUTCOMES examined the effect of alirocumab on lipoprotein(a) lowering for reducing CVD ris...

AbstractPurpose of ReviewSince the 2008 FDA guidance restructuring the design of trials for the approval of novel glucose-lowering agents, 13 medications have now been evaluated by dedicated cardiovascular outcome trials. All of the completed trials have included data (though with varying definitions) on rates of hospitalization for heart failure. This review is aimed at summarizing current heart failure outcome data available from cardiovascular safety trials for novel glucose-lowering agents in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Recent FindingsThere appears to be growing evidence for the benefit of sodium –gluc...
