Modifying Institutional Guidelines Reduces the Likelihood of Oversedation During Interventional Procedures
The administration of anxiolytics and analgesia during invasive radiology procedures is standard practice. In addition to increasing patient comfort and reducing patient pain and anxiety, moderate sedation helps with the successful completion of a procedure [1-3]. Despite the general acceptance of the safety of opioids and benzodiazepines (BZDs) for sedation, there is still a potential for oversedation and related serious adverse drug events.
