Locally advanced carcinosarcoma of the pancreas.

We report a case of pancreatic carcinosarcoma diagnosed in our institution, review tumor clinicopathological characteristics, and describe our medical and surgical management strategy. PMID: 29706823 [PubMed]

CONCLUSION: Herein, we describe distinct DNA methylation signatures in uterine neoplasms and show that array-based DNA methylation analysis holds promise as an ancillary tool to further characterize uterine neoplasms, especially in cases which are diagnostically challenging by conventional techniques. . Hawkins Endometrial cancer is the most common gynecologic malignancy in the United States and the sixth most common cancer in women worldwide. Fortunately, most women who develop endometrial cancer have low-grade early-stage endometrioid carcinomas, and simple hysterectomy is curative. Unfortunately, 15% of women with endometrial cancer will develop high-risk histologic tumors including uterine carcinosarcoma or high-grade endometrioid, clear cell, or serous carcinomas. These high-risk histologic tumors account for more than 50% of deaths from this disease. In this review, we will highlight the biologic differences b...

ScottAbstractGynaecological carcinosarcomas are the most lethal gynaecological malignancies that are often highly resistant to standard chemotherapy. They are composed of both carcinomatous and sarcomatous components and are associated with high rates of metastatic disease. Due to their rarity, molecular studies have been carried out on relatively few tumours, revealing a broad spectrum of heterogeneity. In this review, we have collated the gene mutations, gene expression, epigenetic regulation and prote...

In conclusion, a low-grade epithelial component is a superior predictor of the PFS of ECS, compared with MMR protein and p53 expression status. In some cases of ECS, TP53 mutation may be a late event associated with histogenesis of the sarcomatous component.

Endometrial cancer is a common disease, and in England all cancer cases are discussed at a central multidisciplinary meeting (MDT) with pathology review. We reviewed cases discussed/reviewed at a regional Gynecology MDT comparing (i) original referral histology with review histology and (ii) final review histology with the final hysterectomy histology. Cases identified as potentially eligible for the study (n=884) were found over a 4-yr period. This was reduced to 630 due to data and other issues for the primary biopsy review, and to 488 for both biopsy and hysterectomy sample. Cases were classed by agreement by grade/type...

Conclusion: Our results correlate with published literature. During the period of this review, VATS lobectomies became a routine surgical technique in our department. Our experience proved that axillary thoracotomy is an advantage to learn the anterior VATS lobectomy technique. PMID: 31544482 [PubMed - in process]

This study includes 16 consequent cases of surgically resected ECS. Genetic alterations were independently examined for carcinoma in situ, carcinomatous, and sarcomatous areas. Six cases were analyzed by next-generation sequencing, and the remaining cases were analyzed by Sanger sequencing forTP53,PTEN, andINI1. Sarcomatous components in 3 cases showed histologically heterogenous feature of osteosarcoma. Lymph node metastasis was found in 12 out of 16 cases. Survival analysis revealed 5-year overall survival rate of 59.9%, and the median survival time was 5.37  years.TP53 was the most frequently mutated gene, being id...

AbstractHigh-grade endometrial carcinomas are a heterogeneous group of clinically aggressive tumours. They include FIGO grade 3 endometrioid adenocarcinoma, uterine papillary serous carcinoma (UPSC), clear cell carcinoma, undifferentiated carcinoma and carcinosarcomas or malignant mixed Mullerian tumour (MMMT). The aim of this study is to look at clinicopathological features and survival outcomes of high-grade endometrial cancers of the uterus in our centre. A tertiary care centre in India. The study design is retrospective with survival analysis. We did a retrospective analysis of all patients admitted with a diagnosis of...

GATA binding protein 3 (GATA3) immunohistochemistry is primarily used as a marker of breast and urothelial differentiation, particularly in metastatic settings. In the gynecologic tract it also serves a robust marker for mesonephric and trophoblastic tumors. However, expression has also been described in more common malignancies of gynecologic tract including ovarian, endometrial, and cervical carcinomas. Data on the distribution of GATA3 expression in gynecologic malignancies is somewhat limited, particularly across different histologic subtypes of ovarian, endometrial, and cervical carcinomas. To assess the rates of GATA...
