Top-down approach gets to the bottom of cancer

(Northwestern University) By studying patient colorectal tumors, a Northwestern University research team characterizes a fully intact protein that results from a mutation of the RAS gene, the first cancer gene ever pinpointed in human cancer cells. This finding opens the door for new targets for treatment of a gene currently thought to be 'undruggable.'
