CONCLUSIONS: Our data describe a novel murine model of autoimmune thyroiditis which does not require the use of adjuvants to break down tolerance and that will allow investigators to test the effects of hTG variants in the pathoetiology of Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT). The first one can be treated by antibiotics or antifungals depending on the germ found. The second one will be treated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or corticosteroids. The objective of the study was to assess the rate of recurrent pregnancy loss in patients with HT isolated or accompanied with non-endocrine autoimmune diseases. METHODS: This is a retrospective observational cohort study with systematic review of the NEAD with concurrent HT in an outpatient Endocrinology Unit at a University Hospital. Among the 3480 consecutively examined women with HT, 87 patients met the criteria of RPL and represented the study group. Sixty-five of them had isolated HT and 22 women had HT+NEAD. RESULTS: The rate of RPL in women with HT was 2.1% versus 5.64% observed in women with HT+NEAD (OR=2....

Therefore, we aimed to evaluate possible association between the occurrence and severity of Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) and sex hormone levels in postmenopausal women. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We performed a prospective observational clinical study that included 55 women with HT (AllHT) and 18 healthy subjects (HS) after menopause matched by age, body mass index (BMI), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and menopause duration. According to thyrotropin (TSH...

ConclusionsThe detected alterations of serum protein sialylation might be caused by chronic inflammation in HT. The obtained results completed our previous IgG N-glycosylation analysis in autoimmune thyroid patients and showed that the altered N-glycosylation of serum proteins is characteristic for autoimmunity process in HT.General Significance:Thyroid autoimmunity is accompanied by changes of serum protein sialylation.Graphical abstract

CONCLUSIONS: High expression and accelerated efflux transporter activity of ABCG2/BCRP in the small intestine are expected to contribute to the ineffectiveness of orally administered intact tablets in cases with treatment-resistant Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and crushed tablets can be more effective for some of these patients.
