Prefrontal direct current stimulation in hoarding disorder: A case report

Hoarding disorder (HD) consists in permanent conscious ongoing urge to accumulate possessions and feelings of anxiety whenever discarding possessions. Accumulations exceed available space and negatively influence patients' activities of daily life. Whereas HD was classified a part of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), recent studies showed differences between OCD and HD concerning the lacking awareness of consequences and a higher rate of comorbidities as mood and anxiety disorders or kleptomania [1,2], leading to a distinct HD category in DSM-5.
