Alterations of global DNA methylation and DNMT expression in T and B lymphocytes from patients with newly diagnosed AITD after treatment: A follow-up study.
CONCLUSIONS: Hyperthyroid patients with newly diagnosed GD had global hypomethylation and lower DNMT1 expression in T and B lymphocytes. The results provide the first demonstration that antithyroid drugs or radioiodine treatment restores global DNA methylation and DNMT1 expression with concurrent relief of hyperthyroidism.
