Tar Wars Challenge for Family Medicine Interest Groups Educate kids in your community about the harmful effects of tobacco use with Tar Wars. Each year, medical students who present Tar Wars to the most children and communities have the opportunity to win up to $500 for their family medicine interest groups (FMIGs). Awards Tar Wars will grant three awards to the FMIGs with the most outstanding community service efforts of presenting Tar Wars. First Prize: $500 Second Prize: $300 Third Prize: $200 How Can My FMIG Participate? Prepare for your presentation with Tar Wars materials. Presentations must occur between Sept 1 and April 1. Remember: The more you present, the higher your chances to win, and the more you can spread the word about the harmful effects of tobacco use in your community. To apply for the award, a medical student, faculty, or staff member must complete the AAFP Tar Wars Feedback Form for Presenters on behalf of your FMIG by April 1. When filling out the form, please select “yes” when asked if you are participating in the FMIG awards program (Tar Wars Challenge). You will be required to provide information about your medical school, FMIG, faculty advisor, presentation dates and locations, and medical student participation. Questions?
