Abstract
Prostatic cancer is a leading cause of mortality in Australian males and yet screening programs are accorded a low priority by the health professions. Literature to date suggests that there are strong cultural taboos to the effective implementation of a national screening program. Comparisons are made with screening programs for breast and cervical cancer, currently available to Australian women.
