ERα and ERβ co-expression: An indicator of aggressive tumors and hormonal sensitivity. Oncol Lett. 2017 Aug;14(2):1675-1682 Authors: Oueslati M, Bittaieb I, Sassi N, Jemaa AB, Gamoudi A, Rahal K, Oueslati R Abstract The estrogen receptors (ERs) ERα and ERβ are important factors in breast cancer progression. Nevertheless, the molecular interplay between ERα and ERβ and its clinical significance in breast cancer is controversial. The establishment of a clear association is required; therefore, the current study analyzed the expression patterns of ERα and ERβ in...
UCLA HealthDr. Christopher ChildersOf the nearly 4 million women in the United States who have had either breast cancer or ovarian cancer, at least 1.5 million have a high risk of carrying certain types of genetic mutations that could increase their risk for additional cancers in the future. And although the mutations, including those that affect the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, can be identified through a simple blood or saliva test, more than 80 percent of those women have not taken the test or even discussed it with a health care provider, according to a new study from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. The study ...

Authors: Maliepaard M, Mesham M, Aleksic Z, Scholtz R, Edge J Abstract Two patients presented to their ophthalmologists with vision disturbances. On ocular examination, retinopathic lesions were observed. On subsequent examination, these lesions were diagnosed as metastases of breast cancer. Neither patient had a history of breast cancer. In patients with breast cancer and multiple metastases, ocular metastases are well described. However, the latter is uncommon as a presenting complaint. PMID: 28809617 [PubMed - in process]
