Request for Proposals: Orthopaedic Trauma Association National Trauma Data Bank Research Project Submission deadline: July 14, 2014 The OTA is soliciting proposals for original research that will utilize the American College of Surgeons’ National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB) and/or Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) databases to answer a question of interest to the orthopaedic trauma community. The OTA has slated up to $20,000 of funds in support of the chosen research project, payable over the course of the one-year project. The expectation is that this project will result in a publishable manuscript after scientific presentations at BOTH OTA and ACS sanctioned meetings*. Goals of this project include use of large extant databases to perform epidemiologic and health services research through secondary data analysis, identify ways in which such databases might be improved for application to orthopaedic trauma research, and improve collaboration between the OTA and the American College of Surgeons.
