Call for Applications: Training Award in Substance Abuse and Addiction Application deadline is May 31. Awards will be announced in June. Funding period is July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015. The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine has partnered with the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) to fund two yearlong training awards of $22,000 each (including $2,000 for a mentor stipend) to support the development of expertise in substance abuse and addiction within academic family medicine. The goals of the NIDA-STFM Training Awards are to: Promote knowledge of research-based substance abuse and addiction treatment within family medicine Advance medical care for patients who are addicted to and/or abuse substances Facilitate the academic growth, advanced education, and development of future researchers in drug abuse and addiction Awardee(s) will conduct an original pilot/data-gathering study; present the results at the 2016 STFM Annual Spring Conference; and submit a manuscript for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.  Applicant Eligibility This award is available to STFM-member residents or fellows at US residency programs (may join STFM in order to apply for the award).
