Disasters and Development in South Asia: An Interdisciplinary Forum on Nepal ' s Response to the 2015 Earthquake

Harvard University, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. 09/16/2016 This resource provides information about and a recording of an all-day symposium about the lessons learned from the 2015 earthquake in Nepal. Panelists discuss providing relief after a disaster and managing it effectively, rebuilding, the role of the media and technology during disasters, and how to prepare for future disasters. They discuss how the huge influx of aid workers complicated relief efforts in Nepal, which had only a one-runway airport in its capital city, Kathmandu, and just a handful of helicopters available to transport relief workers to remote areas where many of the injured were located.
