Two Civilians and Several DC Fire and EMS Members to be Honored for Cardiac Save

(Washington, DC)– Two civilians and several members of the Fire and EMS Department will be honored with the Cardiac Arrest Save Coin for successfullyresuscitating a heart attack victim at the Folger Theatre. The coins will be presented by DC FEMS Chief Gregory Dean. This is the second such group to receive these coins, in a program recently created by the Department to pay tribute to individuals whose knowledge of CPR and associated life saving techniques has saved lives. The incident in question took place in June, when a retired Montgomery County doctor suffered cardiac arrest while enjoying a show at the Folger Theatre. Two others in the audience, a college student and a nurse practitioner, leapt into action, initiatinghands on CPR and utilizing an automated electronic defibrillator (AED) until the arrival of our Fire and EMS units.Once again, this is living proof (literally) that CPR saves lives, and that anyone with that simple, easy to learn skill, can become a lifesaver.Come join us in honoring these individuals.www.handsonhearts.dc.govWHEN:  Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 2:30 pmWHERE:  Engine 29; 4811 MacArthur Blvd., N.W.
