Actress Claire King supports our Be The Difference campaign

On Thursday 28 April, Coronation Street actress Claire King appeared on ITV's Lorraine to talk about her experience of living with arthritis and our new campaign: Be the Difference. During April and May, this campaign gives people rare access to experts and other people living with arthritis, offering a unique opportunity for people with arthritis to hear them talking about how to stop joint pain now and in the future. Claire has kindly been supporting the charity with our campaigns over the last few years, helping to raise awareness of the painful and debilitating effects arthritis has on people’s lives. Claire first realised something was wrong when she was in her thirties, after she woke up to a throbbing pain in her fingers three days in a row. Her GP diagnosed her with rheumatoid arthritis shortly after she landed a role in Emmerdale. Claire says: “I would get up in the morning and be hobbling like an old woman because my joints hurt so much. I struggled to get to work and do the things I love, like horse riding, because of the pressure it put on my knees.” Despite experiencing on-going pain in her fingers, knees and feet, Claire has continued with her acting career and currently plays Erica Holroyd in Coronation Street.
