Ureaplasma urealyticum: thepresence among sexually transmitted diseases.

Jpn J Infect Dis. 2016 Mar 18; Authors: Esen B, Gozalan A, Sevindi DF, Demirbas A, Onde U, Erkayıran U, Karakoc AE, Hasçiçek AM, Ergün Y, Adiloglu AK Abstract The study was aimed to detect Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Mycoplasma genitalium, Ureaplasma urealyticum, Mycoplasma hominis, and Trichomonas vaginalis in genital samples of symptomatic patients and to remark the presence of U.urealyticum infections in lower genital tract. Cervical and urethral samples from 96 patients (46 males, 50 females) were tested with Seeplex(®) STD6 ACE kit. Consent forms were received and a questionnaire was applied. All statistical analyses were performed with SPSS program (version 17.0). The ratio of positive results for at least one pathogen was49%. . The positivity for U.urealyticum, M.hominis, C.trachomatis, N.gonorrhoeae, M.genitalium and T.vaginalis were 29.1%, 10.4%, 8.3%, 7.3%, 6.3% and 4.2%, respectively. U.urealyticum was detected alone in 10% of the females and 28.3% of the males (p=0.035) The percentage of U.urealyticum was 54.5% (18/33) among single-agent detected patients and 71.4% (10/14) among the samples deteceted multiple agents.
