Population genetics and site occupancy of streamside and aquatic salamanders of the Gulf Coastal Plain

The objectives of this project are to: • To provide information on the status and trends of salamanders in the Gulf Coastal Plain. • Determine the environmental factors determine the occupancy probability of Desomgnathus salamanders. • To develop microsatellite markers for the Gulf Coast Waterdog (Necturus beyeri). • Determine levels of genetic diversity and connectivity among populations of waterdogs.
