Editorial Comment: "Critically Evaluating the Role for Postoperative Antibiotics in Patients Undergoing Urethroplasty with Buccal Mucosa Graft: A Claims Database Analysis" (#URL-D-23-02180R1)

In this publication, Galansky et al examined stricture recurrence and infectious complications in patients undergoing primary buccal mucosa graft urethroplasty, using a large claims-based database. The authors found that there was no difference in rates of endoscopic revisions or re-do urethroplasties at 5-years. They also found that there were no differences in urinary tract infections (UTIs) and surgical site infections (SSIs) at 31-90 days, and no differences in clostridium difficile infection within 30 days.
