Sex Differences in a Novel Mouse Model of Bipolar Disorder

We concomitantly tackle two unmet translational-science psychiatric issues: scarce bipolar-disorder-like animal-models; mostly neglected sex differences there-in. To fill these gaps, we utilized our novel bipolar-disorder-like male mouse model based on low-dose-rotenone treatment which induces mild mitochondrial-dysfunction as robustly found in bipolar-disorder. It turned out that our regime to elicit the model in males does not induce bipolar-like behavior in females.
