Effects of tricuspid edge-to-edge repair beyond leaflet approximation: Evidence for indirect tricuspid annuloplasty

Despite knowledge of poor prognosis of patients suffering from moderate or severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR), this condition has long been neglected, mostly because it has been attributed to comorbidities and also because outcome of surgical repair was disappointing [1]. The introduction of percutaneous therapies, namely transcatheter edge-to-edge repair, initially as compassionate use of the MitraClip and later with the TriClip or the PASCAL devices or direct annuloplasty with the Cardioband and most recently transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement with the Evoque system have drawn enormous attention to the tricuspid valve.
