How to tame a tight DMEK-roll? The `bubble-in-the-roll` technique

Since its introduction in 2006, Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK) has become the surgical procedure of choice for endothelial failure.1 Most surgeons follow the `no-touch` surgical technique.2 Briefly: DMEK-rolls delivered in organ culture medium are rinsed with balance salt solution (BSS, Alcon Nederland BV, Gorinchem, Nederland) and stained two times with trypan blue 0.06% (Vision Blue, D.O.R.C. International, The Netherlands). A direct flow of BSS is used on top of the DMEK graft to open up the roll and to create a double roll.
