Effectiveness Of Inpatient Rehabilitation for Pediatric Patients with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

The cornerstone of treatment for pediatric Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) patients include rehabilitative treatment encompassing physical therapy (PT), medications, and pain psychology with a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Treatment can occur in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Currently there is no consensus as to whether outpatient therapy is superior to intensive inpatient therapy. A review of the literature found few high-quality studies suggesting the efficacy of inpatient rehabilitation for pediatric patients with CRPS.
