Influence of Psychosocial Factors on Pain Catastrophizing in Youth with Chronic Pain Engaged in Pain Rehabilitation Treatment

Pain catastrophizing, a cognitive attributional style characterized by a negative mindset, magnification, and rumination about pain, has become an important predictor of functional disability and increased pain levels in youth with chronic pain. However, little research has been done to examine the factors that contribute to pain catastrophizing, particularly in the context of pediatric pain treatment. The purpose of this study is to investigate how various psychosocial factors may predict pain catastrophizing in youth with chronic pain undergoing treatment.
