New era in right ventricular imaging with AI: Challenges and horizons

The intricate anatomy and complex physiological functions of the right ventricle (RV) have historically positioned it as a challenging area within cardiovascular imaging and diagnostics. Traditional imaging modalities, while foundational to the early understanding and assessment of cardiac function, often fall short in accurately delineating the unique morphology and dynamic behavior. This discrepancy arises from the crescent-shaped structure, extensive trabeculations, and the pivotal role it plays in pulmonary circulation and systemic venous return, all of which demand more sophisticated imaging solutions [1,2].
